What is it?
Pro-Nox uses a 50/50 combination of inhaled oxygen and nitrous oxide to provide safe, fast-acting pain and anxiety relief. Nitrous, commonly known as laughing gas, has been used for decades in medicine and dentistry. It is not general anesthesia but it enhances the effects of local anesthetics like lidocaine. It works quickly and it is self-administered by the patient, putting them in control. It is eliminated from the body within 5-10 minutes so there are no long-acting side effects or concerns about driving themselves home.
What is Pro-Nox used for?
We typically offer it to patients who are having procedures such as laser, IPL, radio frequency microneedling, DermaPen microneedling, lifting or smooth threads placement, VeinGogh or even injections. With Pro-Nox, the procedure becomes much more comfortable and relieves patient anxiety.
Is Pro-Nox safe?
It is safely administered by the patient through a one-way valve system that only delivers the 50/50 mixed gases when the patient desires it. The exhaled gas goes through another tube into the holding tank. It has been used worldwide in labor and delivery for decades.
How much does it cost?
It normally costs $50 or up to $100 for longer procedures. It is not covered by insurance but can be paid by FSA or HSA funds.
